our family reunion!

December 29, 2007

just after Christmas, my family and relatives were busy once again, not for New Year but for our the biggest celebration our family is to yet have, and it’s the 50th renewal of vows of my aunt and uncle plus the incoming yearly reunion. december is really the time for family reunions. i was busy preparing the invitations and souvenirs, that job fell to me being known as the family’s most creative member, they actually believe in my taste! hehe.. well i think i made nice ones, seeing the delighted expressions in their faces when they saw it.. of course, i exerted extra effort it in and i was glad with their reactions..

December 27 marked the occasion. the venue of the wedding is in tarragona, so the day before we all traveled. when we arrived, the whole place bustled with so much avtivity. i saw the house fully transformed. i saw a lot of my ralatives, i was so glad to see them, having been away at home to study in the city. it was only in those times that i’m able to see them. they greeted us like celebrities! hehe.. the little children vyed for my attention, the teens was clinging to my every word and the oldies each had their turn to kiss me. i gave everyone their pasalubong. for a time, the whole praparation went to an abrupt stop, just to greet us. i excused myself from my over eager relatives to went to the people of the event: my mamay and papay. aunt delen saud that i could go straight to their room and greet them. once inside, my mamay’s delighted face greeted me. she hugged me and kissed me, thanking me for the nice invitations and souvenirs i made, and of course complementing me how much i’ve grown beautiful.. haha! thanks mamay, i knew you would say that. papay on the other hand gave me a warm handshake, he’s never too showy with his feelings anyway but i know he was happy to see me.

i helped with the preparations. we were so busy but happy at the same time. it was already 2am when we retired and able to call it a night. we decorated the lawns and the frint porch. the wdding is to be at the church and the reception is in the house. we woke up at about 4 in the morning, we took a bath. i helped the little ones dress up and i also helped with their make-up. by 7 in the morning they were all ready. trouble was, i wasn’t dressed up yet! i managed to dress all of them but haven’t took care of myself! so with the trained skill of having to accomplish a skill in a hurry, i dressed up and i beautify myself. heck, i felt beautiful that time, i made it a point. and true to my words, they all exclaimed that i looked good.. hmmm, not bad..

8am, the wedding had started, there were streams of guests, faces i’ve never laid eyes on before.. the wedding was so heart-warming.. i cried a lot, well who didn’t cry anyway? it was so lovely.. imagine reaching 50years of marriage? even 2years is feat already, and they were able to reach 50? amazin really.. everybody was teary-eyed by the end of the ceremony.. papay looked at mamay with so much love in his eyes, mamay wiping once in a while the sweat from papay’s forehead. they would look at each other and would smile.. wow! so nice.. i wish i could marry and reach 50years together, adem and i.. it’s every girl’s dream.

reception followed in the house, i was introduced to more relatives, my mind is already swirling with names. everybody was full, everybody was happy. i was suppose to be the emcee but i backed out. i realize i don’t have much guts. i’m off better behind the curtains.. the celebration continued until the night. alcohols were passed, food and the microphone. my relatives are such videoke addicts! we had a disco, even my papa who’s a certified shy-man was able to dance, amidst my mama’s frown. we really had so much fun. we retired for the night, the next day’s our reunion.

our reunion was held in caraga, the travel was so fun. we spent the whole day at the beach and we all shared a banquet. nothing really beats when you are with your family. caraga is such a beautiful place, it’s a shame we haven’t oured it. it’s said to have one of the oldest church in the country.. tsk, next time maybe..

well that’s it.. my vacation all in all was awesome.. new year’s coming.. resolutions? nah, i’m too old for that.. ciao for now!
